TRINITY 2/MICHAELMAS 1/ MICHAELMAS 2/LENT 1/LENT 2/TRINITY 1
Pupils rotate in a 9 week rotation between the following areas. Art, FPN, Textiles and DT over the course of Year 8. Groups have one double lesson each week, pupils will be taught across two rooms (workshop and computer room).
Group A (Workshop)
Week 1
- Review of learning so far – Year 8 targets – What have you set this rotation to achieve?
- Introduction to 3D printing; this includes Health & Safety of the machines (Gatsby).
- Intro to Onshape (basic tools & functions / AfL on Onshape).
- Follow tutorial to create basic die.
Group B (T7)
Week 1

- Recap on isometric drawing, including rendering, thick & thin lines.
- Tutorial on how to draw a die – using the skills above Introduction to marker pens – basic exercises.
- Introduction to the context of ‘Games’ – complete a task analysis.
- Write a design specification for a board game.
Group A (T7)
Week 2

- The impact of Plastics on the environment – watch video & discussion work around PLA plastics.
- Introduction to Design Ideas for board game based on their design specification.
- Complete x 2 ideas for design ideas – remembering techniques for rendering / thick & thin lines etc.

- Introduction to Design Ideas for board game based on their design specification.
- Complete x 2 ideas for design ideas – remembering techniques for rendering / thick & thin lines etc.

- Review & reflect on CADCAM (AfL exercise).

- Introduction to Photoshop & What is the difference between Techsoft and Photoshop.
- Complete Masking exercise.
- Draw up Final idea for board game (Surface detail).
- Review & reflect on CADCAM (AfL exercise).
Group B (T7)
Week 5
- Introduction to Smart materials (handling collection) & Modern materials How could you put a smart or Modern material into your board game?
- Complete final design idea for your board game.
- Review of DIRT – (presentation skills, use of markers & annotation of ideas).

Week 6
- Introduction to Smart materials (handling collection) & Modern materials How could you put a smart or Modern material into your board game?
- Complete final design idea for your board game.
- Review of DIRT – (presentation skills, use of markers & annotation of ideas).

- Introduction to Photoshop & What is the difference between Techsoft and Photoshop.
