Vision

At St Michael’s we want all pupils to thrive as scientists and use what they learn to continue to grow in Body, Mind and Spirit.

Our vision is to:

  • Foster curiosity and critical thinking by encouraging pupils to ask questions, investigate, and develop a deep, evidence-based understanding of the world around them.
  • Promote responsibility and stewardship by inspiring pupils to care for the environment and use their scientific knowledge ethically, in the service of others and the planet and be courageous advocates.
  • Develop confident, compassionate scientists by equipping them with the skills to contribute positively to society and address global challenges, now and in the future.
  • Celebrate the wonder of creation, helping pupils to see science as a way to explore and appreciate the intricacies of life and the universe, in line with our Christian ethos.

Staff and pupils show a real passion and enthusiasm for science, making clear links to the importance of science in everyday life. Understanding how science has shaped not only themselves, but also the world around them and how they can use what they have learned to shape the world for future generations ensures that that they can live life in all its fullness.

Practical science is at the heart of our teaching, with pupils being able to apply what they have learned to find answers in the world around them.

In all we do, we aim to provide a high-quality science at St Michael’s that reflects our Christian values and prepares pupils to be thoughtful, responsible citizens and lifelong learners,

Always question, always wonder.
