Tutorial Patrons 2025-26
Fry (Elizabeth) - A Quaker whose work in Newgate prison benefited the whole prison system. She also helped to abolish transportation. Her life raises issues of the rights of prisoners.
Barnardo (Thomas) - His care for homeless and needy children demonstrates the love of Christ.
Lewis (C.S.) -C.S. Lewis was one of the intellectual giants of the 20th century and arguably the most influential Christian writer of his day.
Roseveare (Helen) - A missionary and doctor who placed care and concern for others above concern for herself at the expense of great personal sacrifice.
Hawthorne (Andy) – is a British evangelist, author and founder of ‘The Message Trust’, a Christian mission organisation based in Manchester. Working for over 25 years with young people in the area, his initiatives have been particularly directed at those who are traditionally hard to reach, in prison or from disadvantaged communities.
Walker (Gee) -After her son’s murder in an unprovoked racist attack she stated that as a devout Christian she forgave her son’s killers. She has since worked to promote racial harmony.
Aylward (Gladys) -Her care for others demonstrates the love of Christ. Rejected by a missionary society, she saved her own fare in order to fulfil her vocation to work in China. When the Japanese invaded she led a group of children to safety through mountainous country.
Watson (Bubba) – Gerry Lester "Bubba" Watson Jr. is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. One of the few left-handed golfers on tour, he is a multiple major champion, with victories at the Masters Tournament in 2012 and 2014. Watson is a committed Christian who speaks openly about the importance of faith in his life and devotes much of his money and time to charity.
Hughes (Tim) - Formerly the director of worship at Holy Trinity Brompton, he has since been appointed Vicar of St Luke's, Gas Street Birmingham. He leads Worship Central, an international centre established to train and equip worship leaders and musicians to be a blessing to the local church.
