Reflection 1 – God is in control
Good morning; may the Lord be with you.

-What sort of things do people worry about?
In Matthew 6, verses 31-34 Jesus says,
‘So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.’
-How could that affect our worries?
-How easy do you find it to trust in God? Why?
Prayer 1
Father God,
Thank you that you know what we need even before we do. Thank you for giving us good gifts if we ask you and that we can trust in you. Even when things are tough, or perhaps, not going as we’d like, help us to trust in you and have faith that you are in control. Amen.
Reflection 2 – Take your opportunities!
Good morning; may the Lord be with you.

I don’t know about you, but it can seem like we spend ages at school, and yet for most, it’s actually only a small part of our lives. To God, our lives (even people who live into the 100’s) are just a drop in the ocean.
James 4: 14 says
‘Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes’.
Think of the opportunities you have here at St Michael’s to grow in Body, Mind and Spirit.
-Are you making the most of those opportunities?
-What could you choose to do to change that?
Prayer 2
God our Father,
You have filled our lives with opportunities.
Help us not to miss them when they come to us.
To learn, so that we may deepen our lives and enrich our minds. To share with the poor, sympathize with the sad, to help those who are finding things difficult.
May we grasp every opportunity you send, and use every gift you have given us, so that we may make our lives what you meant them to be. Amen.
Reflection Day 3 – Therefore Choose!

Do you believe in Black holes? Why/Why not?
Though we can’t see them, most people believe they exist, as we can see the effects they have on matter around them.
Some of us struggle to believe in God.
Our school motto verse comes from a passage in Deuteronomy where God is giving his people the choice to trust and follow Him or do their own thing.
In Deuteronomy 30: 19-20 it says
‘This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.’
In order to choose we need to look at the evidence and make informed decisions.
-What do you need to do to ensure you have made wise decisions about how we choose to live our lives, as well as about spiritual matters?
Prayer 3
Father God
Thank you for giving me a mind that can know
and a heart that can love. Encourage me when studies are difficult and when I am tempted to give up. Enlighten me when my brain is slow and help me to grasp the truth held out to me.
Help me to keep learning every day of my life,
and show me how to find you and love you. Amen.
