Pupils at St Michael’s have once again achieved exceptional GCSE results, continuing the school’s tradition of academic excellence. Building on the successes of previous years, the Class of 2025 is leaving with outcomes that open doors to exciting and ambitious future opportunities.
St Michael’s is proud to be recognised as one of Blackburn Diocese’s excellent church schools, with a strong reputation for high performance. Today’s results reaffirm that status, marking another year of remarkable achievement. The 2025 cohort achieved an impressive Attainment 8 score of 58.9, equivalent to an average grade 6 across subjects. Notably, 91% of Year 11 pupils secured grades 9-4 in both English and mathematics, and 34% of all grades were a 7 or above.
In a national context where curriculum options are narrowing, St Michael’s continues to offer a broad and balanced curriculum. Pupils thrive across a wide range of subjects, including two modern foreign languages and a rich selection of creative disciplines, alongside strong performance in core academic areas.
The school’s Christian vision of, “growing in body, mind and spirit” is at the heart of school life; St Michael’s is a place where pupils are nurtured to become well-rounded individuals, flourish in their learning, and to grow into all that God has called them to be. It is this celebration of the uniqueness of each individual that headteacher Rachel Rongong feels is a key contributor to today’s success. She shared the following,
“St Michael’s is a special school; we really are a team here and today we celebrate with each and every one of our pupils. We must not forget the significant disruption to education that this cohort faced due to the pandemic, making these results even more impressive. Pupils’ resilience and determination to succeed has paid off and we could not be more proud. We wish them every success for the future.”
